Sabancı University was established in 1994 under the leadership of the Sabancı Foundation; with the aim of educating creative individuals with a multidisciplinary perspective who can respond to the changing needs of Turkey and the world.

The mission of the university is to build students’ self-confidence, encourage them to construct their own learning paths, and help them deepen their knowledge in various fields ranging from humanities to engineering, and from social sciences to management sciences. Sabancı University, which offers English-medium education, provides a flexible and interdisciplinary model; students begin without selecting a department in the first year and choose their program in the second year based on their interests.
